The rules behind the certificate

A WorkBOS certificate is worth something because of what it took to earn. These are the rules every learner agrees to before their first lesson, and what the Academy does to make sure they are kept.

What you agree to

Version 2026-09-16. When the rules change in substance, everyone is asked to agree again.

  1. 1.One person, one account

Your Academy record is yours alone. Nobody else watches, answers or sits a check on your behalf, and you do not do it for anyone else.

  2. 2.Watch the lessons for real

On the first pass through a lesson you watch it in order, at normal speed or up to 1.5x, with the tab in front of you. The player will ask "still with me?" now and then, and may ask a quick question about what you just saw. Rewinding is always fine. Once a lesson is complete you can watch it again any way you like.

  3. 3.No skipping ahead, no tricks

Jumping past what you have watched, running the video in a hidden tab, playing the same lesson on two devices, or using any tool or script to earn time you did not spend all count as breaking the rules. The Academy records these and they are reviewed by a person.

  4. 4.Checks and the exam are your own work

No notes shared with other learners, no copying or sharing questions or answers, no help from anyone during a check or the exam. Every attempt draws its own questions and is timed.

  5. 5.Your certificate carries your real name

The name on your certificate is the name on your account. It can be verified by anyone, and it can be taken back.

  6. 6.Reviews are earned, never bought

A review of a specialist comes only from a workspace that really engaged them. Asking for, paying for or trading reviews breaks the rules for both sides.

How the Academy checks

In order, on the first pass

Lessons open one after another within a module, and every module after Getting Started needs Getting Started finished. A lesson you have completed is open for good.

No skipping ahead

On the first pass the player will not let you jump past what you have watched. Rewinding is always allowed. Playback runs at normal speed or up to 1.5x.

Time only counts when you are there

Watch time is counted while the video is playing in a tab you are looking at. A hidden tab, a second device on the same lesson, or a jump ahead earns nothing.

"Still with me?"

A few times per lesson, at moments only the Academy knows in advance, the video pauses and asks. Answer and it continues. Leave it and your time is on hold until you do.

Quick questions

Some lessons ask a short question about what you just watched. Two wrong answers send you back a minute to the part that explains it.

A lesson completes when it is watched

Ninety percent of the video covered, the end reached, every prompt answered. There is no "mark as done" button.

Every one of these is enforced by the Academy itself, not by the page you are looking at. A player that misbehaves is refused, and the refusal is written down. No system stops a determined cheat completely; this one makes cheating slower than learning, and visible.

If the rules are broken

The Academy flags; a person decides. Nothing here is automatic, and every decision can be appealed by replying to the notice you receive.

  1. First timeA warning, and the lesson progress or the attempt in question is voided.
  2. Second timeThe Academy is suspended for thirty days.
  3. Third timeAny certificate is revoked, the directory listing is removed, and the account is banned from the Academy.
