A lesson only adds to your hours while its video is actually playing in a visible browser tab. Opening a lesson and stepping away, or leaving it in a background tab, does not add time: the 10 required hours are real watch time, not real time.
The first pass through a module goes in order, with no skipping ahead, at up to 1.5x speed, with short “still with me?” prompts and quick questions along the way. WorkBOS Advanced Specialist is awarded automatically to a Certified Specialist who has passed the practical lab and holds 3 or more verified client ratings averaging 4.0 or better. It runs to the same expiry as the certificate it builds on, and it is what the Verified Pro badge in the specialist directory stands for.
Every certificate carries a serial that anyone can check on this site. Checking one shows whether it is valid, expired or revoked, the name it was issued to, and its issue and expiry dates. Nothing else is shown, and nothing needs an account to check.
No. Every Academy module is free to watch, whether or not you use WorkBOS.
No. Learning is tied to you as a person, not to a workspace or a plan. A free account is enough to have your watch hours counted and to sit the module checks and the exam.
Yes. Any two modules beyond the five required ones count toward the elective requirement.
Not on the first pass. Lessons open in order, the player will not jump past what you have watched, and playback is capped at 1.5x. Once a lesson is complete you can rewatch it any way you like. Rewinding is always fine.
WorkBOS reviews every application by hand before a certificate is issued. It is not automatic.
If you choose to. You can turn on a public profile from your certificates page, and WorkBOS approves it before it appears in the specialist directory.
It stops verifying as valid. You can renew by passing the final exam again, which extends it for another 2 years.
Yes, if there is a reason to. A revoked certificate shows as revoked to anyone who checks its serial on this site.
Send them the serial. Anyone can check it below or on the certificate itself: it shows valid, expired or revoked, and nothing else.
Ten set-up tasks you do for real in a free practice workspace the Academy creates for you, checked automatically against the workspace itself. It is required for the certificate and is what the Hands-on verified mark in the directory means.
