Ink on the document, not an attachment nobody can prove was opened

Send a proposal, a contract or an offer for signature without leaving the workspace. Every step, sent to signed, is hash-chained into one audit trail you can print.

Included on every plan, free included

Why this exists

  • A contract goes out as an email attachment and comes back as a scanned, crooked photo, if it comes back at all.
  • Nobody can prove when a document was actually opened, only that it was sent.
  • Getting three people to sign in the right order means three separate emails and a spreadsheet to track them.

What it does

Send straight from your Drive

Attach one or more documents through the Drive picker, which only shows what you can already access. Add signers, CC viewers, and the fields each signer completes: signature, initials, auto-date, text, checkbox.

Get real consent before a signature

Every signer explicitly agrees to sign electronically (ESIGN/UETA-style) before they can. They draw with a mouse or finger, or type their full legal name; the date stamps itself.

Place fields exactly where they belong

When the document is a PDF, drag signature, initials, date, text and checkbox fields onto the exact spot on the page. The signer then fills them in directly on the rendered document, not a separate list.

Control the order, or don’t

Tick "Sign in order" and each signer’s link stays locked until everyone above them has signed, enforced on the server. Leave it off and everyone can sign at once.

Keep a trail nobody can quietly edit

Every event, sent, viewed, consented, signed, declined, completed, is hash-chained: each entry cryptographically references the one before it, so any alteration is detectable.

Hand over the proof

A printable certificate of completion carries the parties, their consent and signing times, and the full audit trail. Download signed PDF assembles the original document, any placed field values, and the certificate into one file on demand.

What it does not do

The part you would otherwise find out in week three. If one of these is central to how you work, raise it before you buy rather than after.

  • These are standard electronic-signature records: consent, intent, association and a retention trail. Qualified eIDAS/QES certificates are out of scope.
  • Dragging fields onto the exact page position only works when the primary attachment is a PDF. Anything else falls back to a simple list of fields the signer completes.
  • Only the request’s creator or a workspace owner/admin can send, void or delete it.
  • Every attached document has to pass the same malware-scan gate a signer’s upload would, so a file still scanning or one that gets blocked cannot go out.

Questions, answered

Is an e-signature from WorkBOS legally binding?+

It produces standard electronic-signature records: explicit consent, intent, the signer’s association with the document, and a hash-chained audit trail. It does not produce a qualified eIDAS/QES certificate, which is a different, notarised category.

Can I control who signs first?+

Yes. Turn on "Sign in order" and each signer is unlocked one at a time, top to bottom, enforced by the server rather than just the screen.

What if I send it to the wrong person?+

Void the request at any time and every link on it stops working immediately. Drafts can still be edited freely before you send.

Where do the documents come from?+

Your own Drive. The picker only shows drives and files you already have access to, so sending a document never grants access you didn’t already have.
