Why this exists
What it does
Team Chat has four tabs: Chats for private conversations and groups, Projects Discussion for the shared General room and one room per project, Team for the directory, and Calls for your history with colleagues.
Call rings a colleague from your browser to theirs. There is no number to dial, nothing is charged per minute, it is on every plan including Free, and the workspace needs no phone number for it.
Availability is worked out for you: Available, On a call, In a meeting (with the time it ends), Away or Do not disturb. With Do not disturb on, colleagues can still message you but cannot ring you.
Attach a Drive file, a project, a task, a client, an invoice, an estimate, a proposal, a contract, a lead, a deal, a meeting or a signature request, up to ten per message. A WorkBOS record shows as a card that opens it, and uploaded files are scanned before they are kept.
Reply with a quote, forward, edit, pin up to ten per room, save for later, see who has read it in a group, record voice messages of up to five minutes, run a poll with up to twelve options, or ask the room to fill in a small form with the answers summarised for you.
Type @ to mention a colleague, a team, one of your AI agents or Chief. Mentioning an agent hands it your message and whatever it proposes waits for a person in Agent Approvals. Type # to link a task or a project.
Pick people or start from a team. Each group decides who may send, who may edit its name and who may add people, and every change is written into the conversation so nobody wonders who added whom.

No. It runs from browser to browser inside WorkBOS, on every plan including Free, with no phone number and no per-minute charge. Calls to and from real telephone numbers are the separate phone system on Pro.
No. Guests can never be messaged or added to a group, and a file shared in a group can be opened only by the people in that group.
Yes, for everyone. It leaves a "This message was deleted" marker so a gap is never a mystery, and you have one minute to undo it. In a channel or group an admin can delete anyone’s message.
