WorkBOS Certified Specialist
The certificate proves that a person can set up, run and hand over a WorkBOS workspace for a business. It is free. You apply from the Academy dashboard once every requirement is met, WorkBOS reviews the application, and the certificate is issued with a unique serial number, a PDF, a shareable badge and a public verification page any business can check.
- 1
Meet the requirements
Finish the required modules and the chosen number of electives, log the minimum verified hours, pass every required module check at the pass mark, and pass the practical lab. The final exam then opens from the Certificates page: sit it there, with the honour pledge first. The dashboard shows each requirement with a tick or the gap that remains, so there is never a surprise at the application step.

The practical lab
Watching and quizzing prove knowledge; only doing proves skill. From Academy ▸ Practical lab, one button creates a free practice workspace of your own (yours to keep or delete, on the free plan, touching nothing else) and hands you ten real tasks drawn from the required modules: set the workspace up, invite a teammate with the right role, create a client, plan a project with tasks, price a service, raise and send an invoice, record its payment, work a deal to Proposal, publish a lead form, create a permission template. Each task says exactly what to call the thing you create. Check my work looks at the workspace itself and says, task by task, done or what is missing; no screenshots, nothing self-declared. Passing is the Hands-on verified mark, and it stays yours even if you delete the practice workspace afterwards.
- 3
Apply
Press Apply on the dashboard. The application carries a snapshot of your requirements at that moment. WorkBOS aims to decide within five working days and emails the decision; a rejection comes with a note saying what to address, and you can apply again once you have. If the exam attempt that qualifies you was flagged for a second look, the application waits for that look first, and the page says so.
- 4
Use it
Download the PDF, add the badge to LinkedIn or your website, and give anybody the serial number: the verification page shows the holder name, the certification and the dates, and says plainly if a certificate has expired or been revoked.
- 5
Renew it
A certificate is valid for two years. In the 90 days before it expires the Certificates page turns into a renewal checklist: watch again any required lesson that changed materially since your certificate was issued (WorkBOS marks those, and the page lists them), then pass the current exam again; only attempts after your last issue or renewal count. Press Renew and the same serial runs two more years from its old expiry date, so renewing early costs nothing. If the qualifying exam attempt was flagged for a second look, the renewal waits for that look, exactly like a first application. Let it lapse and you apply afresh, with a new serial.

The Advanced level
WorkBOS Advanced Specialist is a second certificate that nobody applies for: every night it is awarded to a Certified Specialist who has passed the practical lab and holds three or more verified client ratings averaging 4.0 or better. It has its own serial and verification page, runs to the same expiry as the certificate it builds on, renews with it and is revoked with it. In the specialist directory it is what the Verified Pro badge stands for.
WorkBOS can revoke a certificate for cause (misrepresentation, a pattern of poor conduct reported by businesses, or a compromised account). A revoked certificate verifies as revoked from that moment and the holder leaves the specialist directory at once.
